'Excellent Medical Facility looking to add a Remote Coder to their team!!! The Coder II is a full time, non-exempt, remote position reporting to the Coding Manager... Duties: -Assigns codes using ICD-9-CM, CPT, HCPCS level 2 coding classification systems. -Verifies and abstracts all medical data from the electronic medical record to complete a data abstract on Inpatient and Outpatient Surgery hospital encounters. -Ensures that all data abstracted and/or coded are in accordance with coding guidelines outlined by JCAHO, CMS, and Corporate policy. -Reviews appropriate provider documentation to determine principal diagnosis, co-morbidities and complications, secondary conditions and surgical procedures. -Assigns present on admission (POA) value for inpatient diagnoses. -ICD-10 trained preferred. Prior experience with 3M encoder and EHR systems (i.e. Cerner) experience preferred. Minimum Qualifications: -Three or more years of continuous coding experience in an acute care setting required. Minimum Education: -Associate degree in Health Information related field required. -Formal coding education from an accredited program with completion of classes in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, ICD-9-CM (and ICD-10-CM) DRG and CPT coding conventions strongly required.
