Position Title: GIS Technician Location: Akron, OH Position Status: Fulltime Summary: The GIS Technician I will support the organization's Geographic Information System (GIS) by performing mapping, data analysis, and documentation tasks to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements. This entry-level role is ideal for candidates with foundational GIS knowledge and strong computer skills, who are eager to contribute to operational and regulatory initiatives. Responsibilities: • Support GIS operations through mapping of services, creating maps for audits and permitting, and maintaining updates in the system. • Maintain and organize documentation and utility records, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and compliance. • Conduct detailed research on historical records and data to support field operations and resolve discrepancies. • Collaborate with external partners (contractors, utilities, agencies) to facilitate communication and coordination. • Work closely with internal teams to align GIS activities with operational procedures. • Perform data verification, analysis, and troubleshooting for GIS systems and document control processes. • Ensure efficient execution of workflows involving GIS and document control to meet project deadlines. Qualifications: • Entry-level GIS experience and basic understanding of GIS concepts. • Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities. • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. • Interpersonal skills with a customer service-oriented approach. • High school diploma or equivalent required. • GIS certification or degree preferred. • Minimum 1 year of GIS-related work experience preferred. • CAD drawing experience preferred. • Strong understanding of topography preferred. • Utility industry experience preferred.
