Internship Overview This unpaid internship is designed for college students, recent graduates, or adult volunteers who are interested in nonprofit work, disability inclusion, and accessible travel advocacy. The internship emphasizes learning, skill development, and exposure to nonprofit operations rather than operational responsibility. Interns will gain hands-on experience while supporting a mission-driven organization in its early development stage. Learning Objectives Interns will: • Gain exposure to nonprofit structure, governance, and ethical operations • Learn how accessibility and inclusion principles are applied in advocacy and community-focused initiatives • Develop skills in research, communication, documentation, and mission-based storytelling • Observe how grant-funded organizations align activities with compliance and accountability standards Responsibilities • Assist with research related to accessibility, inclusion, and disability-informed travel practices • Support drafting and organizing non-confidential materials such as summaries, resource lists, or social media content under guidance • Participate in virtual check-ins or mentorship discussions focused on nonprofit learning and professional development • Observe organizational planning processes and contribute reflections or feedback when invited • Perform tasks that are educational in nature and do not replace paid staff or essential operations Qualifications • Interest in disability inclusion, accessibility, advocacy, or nonprofit service • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Willingness to learn, take guidance, and ask questions • Ability to manage a light, consistent time commitment • No prior nonprofit experience required Time Commitment Approximately 5–8 hours per week for a mutually agreed-upon period. Compensation / Credit This is an unpaid internship or volunteer role. The experience may be used to satisfy volunteer service hours or internship requirements, subject to approval by the participant’s academic institution or program. Supervision & Structure Interns will receive guidance, feedback, and learning support from the organization’s leadership.
