Key Responsibilities Provide fast and friendly service to all customers, actively seeking them out to assess their needs and offer assistance. Greet, qualify, recommend, and close sales with customers in your department, with the ability to handle basics in adjacent departments. Maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas, ensuring they are clean, shop-able, and safe for both customers and colleagues. Contribute to a safe working and shopping environment by adhering to all safety policies and standards, completing specified safety training, and promptly addressing or reporting any hazards or unsafe conditions. Collaborate with your Department Supervisor and other associates to achieve departmental goals and objectives, promoting a culture of teamwork and mutual support. Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you will need to possess a combination of skills, knowledge, and personal qualities that align with our values and customer service standards. These include: A strong passion for delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring customer satisfaction. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with customers, understand their needs, and provide effective solutions. A willingness to learn and develop knowledge about our products and services, staying up-to-date with new developments and offerings. Basic math skills and the ability to handle cash, operate a point-of-sale system, and process transactions accurately. Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and move around the store to assist customers and maintain the sales floor. Availability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications can be advantageous for this role: Previous experience in customer service, sales, or retail, particularly in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of products and services related to our specific store departments, such as Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing, and Tool Rental. Experience with point-of-sale systems and inventory management software. Leadership or team lead experience, with the ability to motivate and guide colleagues to achieve sales and customer service goals.
