About the position The ECMO Specialist acts as an active member of the patient care team to provide clinical patient care assessment, initiation, modification, and discontinuance of therapeutic respiratory care procedures to critically ill patients. This role involves analyzing and evaluating clinical patient data to determine the appropriate therapy or interventions and making recommendations on patient care plans to the medical staff. The position is based at The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc., part of Mass General Brigham, which is dedicated to patient care, research, teaching, and community service. Responsibilities • Initiates and/or assists with appropriate respiratory and extracorporeal life support (ECLS) tests and procedures, as ordered, to deliver appropriate care to patients. • Responds to respiratory and ECLS emergencies and transports patients when moved from units for tests and procedures. • Prepares appropriate care plan and makes specific recommendations to physician for indicated therapy. • Schedules patient treatments as necessary and provides consultation as an active member of the patient care team. • Manages the administration of all aspects of respiratory therapy and ECLS according to the policies and procedures, including ECLS equipment. • Makes regular bedside rounds and administers Respiratory Care modalities to assigned patients. • Modifies treatment care plan according to clinical picture and response to therapy. • Participates in education of students, physicians, staff, and patients/families. • Clinically supervises respiratory therapy students in patient areas. Requirements • A.S. in Respiratory Therapy. • Critical care experience 1-2 years required. • Currently licensed as a Respiratory Therapist by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. • Registration (RRT) by the N.B.R.C. within six (6) months of hire. Nice-to-haves • B.S. in Respiratory Therapy. • Two years of previous critical care experience. • ELSO certification preferred. Benefits • $10,000 sign-on bonus. Apply tot his job
