Introduction to the Role and Our Organization We are seeking a highly motivated and caring Instructional Paraprofessional to join our team at Oberle Elementary, part of the Christina School District. As an Instructional Paraprofessional, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational journey of our students, working closely with teachers to ensure that each child receives the guidance and assistance they need to thrive. Key Responsibilities As an Instructional Paraprofessional, your primary goal will be to support the teacher in providing high-quality educational experiences for students. Your responsibilities will include: Ensuring the safety and well-being of students within all school and community environments. Maintaining student confidentiality and upholding the highest standards of professionalism. Collaborating with teachers and other educational professionals to develop and implement educational plans tailored to the needs of individual students. Working with students in various settings, including one-on-one, small groups, and whole class environments, to support their academic, social, and emotional development. Assisting in the monitoring of student progress, including data collection, assessment, and communication of student information to teachers and administrators. Supporting the maintenance of discipline and order in the classroom, using behavior management strategies as directed by the teacher. Performing routine tasks such as record-keeping, preparing materials for lessons, and operating multimedia equipment. Supervising and monitoring student interactions during non-instructional activities, such as recess, lunch, and field trips. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications: Hold a high school diploma or equivalent. Meet one of the following educational requirements: an associate degree or higher with a GPA of 2.0 or higher from an accredited institution, 60 college credits from an accredited institution, or a score of 459 or higher on the ParaPro Test. Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English. Be able to stand and work continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per workday and use arms and hands without restrictions to accommodate the physical needs of students. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience working with children in varied settings. Knowledge of behavior management procedures. Proficiency in software applications, including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint. Understanding of accommodations for special education students. Ability to communicate effectively in a second language, if required by assignment.
