Controller (MRI Experience Required)

Summary of Responsibilities The Controller is responsible for leadership and oversight of accounting functions related to traditional corporate accounting functions, accounting and reporting functions related to our investor clients, and certain other entities and business opportunities. The ideal candidate has significant experienceworking in a supervisory role with a high proficiency in full cycle corporate and investment accounting, well-developed organizational skills, an attention to detail, and a thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP Essential Duties • Lead and support the team; encourage team engagement; and create an environment to foster associate development through ongoing performance management, career development, training, and mentoring. • Instill an innovative mindset where processes and deliverables are proactively and continuously enhanced. • Collaborate with internal and external customers and stakeholders, such as other corporate departments, field representatives, and Senior Leadership. • Establish, communicate, and train new policies and procedures and liaise with internal and external auditors while ensuring SOX compliance is maintained. • Assist in leading the month-end close process for Propwell’s corporate entities to ensure accurate reporting of actual to budgeted financial results within established close and reporting calendars. • Manage the review of monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure completeness, including documented support. • Read and understand loan agreements, partnership agreements, investment documents, leases, entity structures, SEC filings, and investment prospectuses. • Conduct all business in accordance with company policies and procedures, Fair Housing, Americans with Disabilities Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, applicable state statutes and all other laws pertaining to residential rentals, whether local, state, or federal. Qualifications • Outstanding interpersonal skills, especially in the context of a high growth strategy • Oversight and preparation of financial and economic analyses • Working with senior leadership on all phases of the pre-merger process, post-merger implementation • Understand and communicate financial and accounting issues related to Mergers & Acquisitions • Perform due diligence reviews on-site and report results to the relevant team members • Experience structuring domestic transactions • Superior analytical, technical, and tax accounting/technology skills with working knowledge US GAAP • Technical expertise in M&A Tax and transaction related matters, including significant experience conducting buy and sell-side tax due diligence projects, including diligence on pass-through entities • Minimum 5 years of experience in a top tier consulting firm, reputable boutique or corporate finance advisory/investment firm, or in-house investment banking strategy M&A function with practical experience in managing M&A strategy. • Experience in MRI Property Management Software (Required) • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or related degree (Masters preferred) Who We Are Propwell is a new tech-enabled property management company with a goal of acquiring and managing 10k doors over the next three years.
