Associate Principle Packaging Engineer

About the position Responsibilities • Work closely with Marketing, Sales, Operations, Purchasing, and Finance to create new business opportunities and develop packaging solutions for established projects. • Collaborate with Product Development on packaging and product requirements, including functionality, product protection, and shelf life. • Develop and maintain packaging specifications. • Create 'go to market' solutions that deliver products efficiently via multiple distribution platforms. • Maintain a current understanding of packaging technologies within internal plants and co-packers, as well as industry developments. • Incorporate new technologies to optimize overall system cost and efficiency. Requirements • BS in Packaging Science, Chemical, Mechanical, Plastics Engineering, or Materials Engineering. • 5+ years of work experience within food/beverage packaging. • Experience in the development and execution of primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging materials, with knowledge of their interrelationship with equipment. • Working knowledge of TOPS or CAPE. Nice-to-haves • Strong project management skills in developing project timelines that meet packaging material and process setup timing. • Ability to manage platform and project budgets and track spending. • Strong conceptual, analytical, and technical skills with excellent communication and presentation skills. • Ability to drive packaging innovation from conceptual ideas to sampling for cross-functional partners. • Ability to handle diverse packaging projects with minimal direction. • Analytical and innovative thinking skills. • Experience following technical stage gate processes and creating package development plans and timelines.
